Towards Belonging – Fee for Service Model (Statewide)

We partner with various NGO and Government partner agencies, practitioners, communities and the sector to improve practice and outcomes for CALD children and their families.

CMRC’s Statewide Towards Belonging Program “Keeping Culture in Mind” – is an Evidence Based Practices Program to support families from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds living in New South Wales. The program assists in finding commonality amongst cultures and various cultural styles (e.g. parenting) to create an approach that supports meaningful change for CALD families.

We deliver holistic cultural casework support to other agencies by providing opportunities to vulnerable CALD communities including children and young people. The program provides a range of evidence-based CALD services which are not limited to child protection but also Out of Home Care (OOHC) support, Cultural Care Plans, Information Sessions, CALD Training, Cultural Consultation, Language Support and much more.

Build child-focused relationships.
Promote dignity and respect in partnerships with parents, families, and communities.
Utilise collective cultural wisdom, skills, and courage to keep children safe.
Develop and implement holistic Cultural and Case Management Plans and Support Plans.
Deliver culturally responsive services to CALD and refugee communities.
Provide evidence-based parenting support, including Family Group Conferencing and Parenting Between Cultures.
Assist families in navigating refugee trauma and settlement challenges.
Design and implement effective cultural approaches for various stages of Permanency Planning, including Restoration, Guardianship, and Adoption.
Offer connections to culture-specific programs, activities, agencies, and resources.
Provide links to the community sector and services to enhance client support.

Our Multicultural Support Team
The Towards Belonging team consists of 66 Multicultural Support Workers from diverse cultural backgrounds can assist with:

Cultural support in case consultations and conferences
Cultural support in teleconferences
Input into the development of Cultural Care Plans
Cultural support for joint home visits
Recommendations for culturally appropriate referrals
Guidance in navigating families through the Child Protection System
Collaboration with community services to enhance casework support
