The CMRC Northern Region team works across the City of Ryde, Hornsby Shire Council, and Ku-ring-gai Council areas, providing essential settlement support for new migrants and refugees, as well as social inclusion programs in established and emerging cultural groups, and the wider community.

Our community programs are expanding rapidly in this region as we connect with more communities and partner organisations. In addition to our core settlement casework, CMRC Northern Region also runs:

• Conversational English classes and social support groups
• English and active citizenship classes
• Multicultural Community Ambassador Program, engaging community volunteers to support newly arrived residents in Ryde
• A variety of vibrant, diverse and locally focused community events
• The Women’s Shed Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, in partnership with local service providers and community organisations
• Ryde Intercultural Network and the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Multicultural Network where we connect with organisations in the area to share learnings, promote collaboration and undertake partnership projects to better serve the community
  
  

Multicultural Ambassador Program
The Multicultural Ambassador Program assists Ryde’s diverse communities, families, and elderly access and use support services in the area.

This project has trained a group of bilingual community ambassadors who will be available to help multicultural families and community members in Ryde and nearby areas. The program has recruited and train bilingual volunteers to become Multicultural Ambassadors who can provide information and referrals to Ryde’s diverse communities, especially new arrivals.
